Search Engine Optimisation For Errors
It’s safe to say that we have all done this at some point in our short web life. When searching on Google say, we have mis-spelled a word or made a typo when entering our text into the search box or URL box. We will also have noticed that when we make a typo or spelling mistake, Google will make suggestions for us.
So when we sit back and think about it, there are a huge percentage of searches going through Google each day that have many variations of the same word. Take the example below:
1. Chainsaw
2. Chain-saw
3. Chain Saw
The above examples are all commonly used variants for Chainsaw. The correct way to spell the word (Chainsaw) returned over 2 million Google searches, whereas the other 2 variants returned over 1 million searches each. So it’s clear to see that it would be well worth optimising your site for each of the variants of Chainsaw, if you owned your very own little Chain-saw store in say, Texas.
To do this, we have to make sure each variation is included in the most SEO rich parts of your webpage, like the meta tags, page title and in the main body of text, making sure you don’t spam the site. There is a tight margin between optimising the site well enough to fit in all the keyword variations without over-doing and forcing Google to regard your site as a spammer.
