Mobile Devices

Most people have heard of email on your phone - they usually equate it with a Blackberry. The truth is that there are many devices on the market from all the main suppliers (02, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange). These devices include Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Symbian, with brands from Nokia, Sony-Ericsson, HTC and other network-specific phones.

The really cool thing about linking in with a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 is all of your contacts, emails and diary can be automatically updated on your phone. No need to synchronize using a cradle or cable. While you are out you can add a new contact to your phone and it will instantly add it to your Outlook in the office; the same with an email or a calendar event. Equally, someone in the office can update your calendar and your diary on your phone is instantly updated. All this is made possible through the use of 'Push' technology.

Farmore IT can advise on and implement the most appropriate mobile devices for your company.

Top tip: all mobile devices are not the same - 'Push' technology needs to have the correct infrastructure to work effectively. Don't buy a phone because it is 'email-enabled' and assume it will work.
